About ICOMSA 2026

ICOMSA 2026 returns for its 21st edition, continuing a conference series initiated in 2003 by Institut Marin Borneo (IMB), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), together with long-standing international collaborators including Kindai University. Over two decades, ICOMSA has grown into a key platform for scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and industry to share evidence, innovations, and solutions that strengthen the stewardship of our oceans.

Held on 27–29 October 2026 in Kota Kinabalu, ICOMSA 2026 convenes researchers and stakeholders across marine science and aquaculture to address the pressing challenges of our time—biodiversity loss, pollution, climate risks, seafood security, and the sustainable use of coastal and marine resources.

Guided by the theme “Ocean Resilience for Planetary Health”, the conference emphasizes resilient ocean systems as a foundation for ecological integrity, food systems, coastal livelihoods, and human well-being. Through keynote sessions, technical presentations, posters, and networking forums, ICOMSA 2026 aims to catalyze collaborations, identify high-impact research directions, and translate science into action—while also strengthening the global visibility of IMB and UMS.
